Andrew Sloman, Inspiring Artist.

The creative quality behind Andrew Sloman, has inspried me to write again. If you have not heard of Andrew, please click and read my post "Another Singer Song Writer has found me". Then return and read this lovely little post.

With his first official release under his belt, Andrew Sloman is still paving his way into our hearts and ears. This artist has the ability to write music in a creative, refreshing way. He has managed to keep me coming back for more.
His first official EP was released October 30th to Itunes and Amazon. This includes five very lovely tracks everyone should hear. If you have not purchased your copy of Andrew Sloman's Tides EP, please do yourself a favor and go do it now.

Since the release of his EP, Andrew has posted two new (new to me) tracks on his music page. ( www.myspace.com/andrewsloman ) When I listened to them, I fell in love with his music all over again.

Andrew Sloman has writen a heart warming song that has touched me deeply, so much so that I had to share. "Humble" is a prime example of true art. The piano in this tune is simple, yet contains so much beauty. You can truly feel every note of this beautiful song. Andrew Sloman has so wonderfully penned lyrics in "Humble." This tune speaks of love, knowing what it is, once having had it, gave it up for no good reason, and now you are left searching your way back to it again. Such a wonderful tune that moved me, touching my heart forever.

Andrew's most recent song that he posted to his music page is "Human Nature." This is an upbeat, feel good song. In this song, Andrew provides us with his outstanding guitar picking and plucking, backed with a light drum beat, and hand clapping. This tune speaks of enjoying the daily beauties of life. The simple things, how they matter in life. Andrew's voice in this tune is both soothing, and full of hope. This song brings me hope. I really enjoy this song. Go listen to "Human Nature" and you will love it too!

You can purchase your own copy of Andrew Sloman's "Tides" EP from Itunes or Amazon. This is one purchase that you will not regret! Also, Andrew is going to be releasing an album in the near future, so keep and eye out for that. In the mean time go to his music page www.myspace.com/andrewsloman and Give His tunes a listen!

Pop-Rock Music Full of Passion, Rite On slips into my likings.

Rite On is an Oklahoma City based Pop-Rock band. "A band that started as a project" and went through many twists and turns as far as members go. After many years, and several trial runs with a few different band members, it seems that Rite On has finally found their family. Rite On is definitely a band to listen to, and watch for.
Made up of just three members, these guys have a vision for great music. Jared Owens leads the band on vocals and guitar. Aaron Vega rocks the bass, and Kyle Klingman puts down some pretty slick stickin' on drums. I stumbled upon this little group by accident, but I left as a fan. The first time I ever heard these guys play, was live, at Bora Bora night club and venue here in Oklahoma City. I was very impressed with this group, and what they have to offer to us as listeners. Rite On makes for a wonderful example of Pop-Rock music.
I am a sucker for the guitar and Rite On provides some nice plucking for my listening pleasure in all of their tunes. I personally love their song "Mojo" the most. Just before playing this song in their set at Bora Bore, it was mentioned that this song was inspired by a dog. This got my attention and I really listened in. Once I heard the lyrics, I realized that the dog comment must have been a joke, but an amusing one.

While this band provides some really great music, they are also very entertaining. The drummer, Kyle, makes for a quick-witted comedian in between songs. He definitely kept my attention in between songs, which then kept me listening. I really enjoy a band that can provide us with a little bit of humor, and Rite On definitely has that in Kyle.
I took the opportunity to approach Kyle and Aaron, to let them know that I really enjoyed their set. I also mentioned that this was the first time I had ever heard of them. Both guys were extremely kind, and appreciative of my kind words. Kyle let me know how I could find them on myspace.
I really appreciated this band for their music, kindness, and entertainment value. If you are a fan of pop-rock, you should definitely go and give these guys a listen. I personally recommend listening to "Mojo" and "Something" first, then listen to the other two tracks available since you are already there.

Rite On is working on recording an album. They do have a four song EP available they are selling at their live shows. Should you want to own a little piece of Rite On, just hit up their myspace page, and check their show dates.

Music full of heart, soul, and meaning, we Find Lee Lindsey

Based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, comes a lyrical genious I have stumbled upon through the amazing social site, myspace. Music that tells a real, honest, life story, no matter the genre, is some of the best music in the industry. Lee Lindsey has done this, with her folk rock album, "Above The Madding Crowd." There is a true essence of beauty in her story. Bravely, Lee Lindsey tells us her personal story with her lyrics, in a way that listeners can identify with on many levels. Wether it's the story of a broken heart, an unhealthy relationship with a father, or a life's journey, there is something on this album that can connect you with the heart of this artist, Lee Lindsey.

Lee holds an amazing creative quality in her writing that connects modern country music with the true essence behind her folk roots. She posseses an incredible talent to pen lyrics that tell beautiful stories. She writes lyrics in a way, that the listener can connect with her, and the music on a personal level. Thus, leaving you feeling more appreciative of not only the artist behind this music, but music in general. The honesty behind Lee Lindsey's music is both refreshing and theraputic.

Allow me, please, to provide just two examples of Lee Lindsey's work from her album "Above The Madding Crowd."

Lee's first track, "Journey" is THE song that grabbed my attention. There is a raw and honest quality to this song that touches my heart like no other. This song, delivers the message that you have to follow your heart and dreams. It won't be easy, but you have to push through. There is happiness in following your heart, but with doing this comes obstacles, you must face them. Overcome them. This is a delightful tune that I can not listen to enough.

"Just a Girl" is the other song I feel the need discuss. While basking in the graceful chords weaving together by the string instruments, her lyrics ring true to be just as beautiful, and seep into your soul. This is a song that ALL women should listen to, and have on their playlist. Lee sings of the weaknesses, of being a woman, in a wide spectrum of life. I truly feel every note and chord of this song in a very personal way. I relate to this song in such a strong way. I am sure many women could, if you just take the time to listen. "Just A Girl," is truly a beautiful, heartfelt song.

The songs from "Above the Madding Crowd" listed above are available for a listen on Lee Lindsey's music page. Just go to www.myspace.com/leelindsey and hear them out. Once you become a fan, you can purchase Lee Lindsey's album at CDBABY. To do so, You can copy and paste this link here. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/leelindsey2/from/musicdish

Page 9

Another rock band has made their way into my musical findings. Page 9 is based out of Dallas, Texas. This duo rock group is made up of Lindan Scott (bass) and Josh Roa-Martinez (vocals/guitar.) Just two guys that work well and sound good together. : )

I have to say I am a sucker for rock music. It holds some of the best qualities in music, if you have a good ear for it. You have to be careful not to drown out your vocals. So many rock bands loose out on being heard and appreciated by doing just that. Page 9 has done a wonderful job mixing and producing some very listen worthy tunes.

I personally like "You Don't Know Me." The opening guitar licks in this song won me over to give them a full listen. I love the sound of the guitar. This song holds some amazing chords that I can get lost in. The lyrics are very well written and the phrasing works well with the track. This song speaks of what two people could be together if just given the chance. I know I have been there before in life, as I am sure many people have. Page 9 are just brave enough to put it out in the open for all to appreciate. Masterfully done in my opinion.

"Where You Are" This song, again, is full of masterful guitar and some sick drum sticking. The lyrics speak of giving understanding to a friend. Empathising with them, for whatever it is they are going through in life. This song is available for a listen as well on their music page. Just go to www.myspace.com/page9 Click and enjoy. : )

Page 9 is currently recording a new EP. Keep an eye out for that release. They also have a demo up on I-tunes, "ZombieCar" Go check it out and buy! There is also a youtube video of an acoustic cut of this song up on their myspace page. I really like it. Go check it out! : )

Midnight Hour is Masterful Rock!

Midnight Hour is a rock band based out of Orange County, CA. This band is made up of Brad Lodge on piano and vocals, Tim Johnson on guitar, James Mitchell on guitar, Jared Mitchell on Bass, and Dan Ardis on drums. I have to say when I listened to this band's music, I half expected to hear another mundane round of drowned out vocals by too loud guitars with senseless lyrics. I was so WRONG. I was delightfully surprised when I clicked that play button on their music page. This band provides us with some refreshing songs that can lay proudly within the genre of Rock music.

Let me begin to tell you that there are six tracks up on Midnight Hour's music page. Usually, when I give bands a listen, I like half the tracks and feel they are worthy of sharing. Midnight Hour's playlist is not included in this such action. All six tracks currently available for a listen at www.myspace.com/midnighthourrock are all worthy of your time to sit and listen to them, as they are all masterfully written, mixed, and produced. Midnight hour does a Magnificent job at keeping all their tunes well balanced, and Brad Lodge's vocals are heartfelt, warm, and inviting.

I will list three of their songs that I love the most, and if you take the time to listen, if you are a fan of music, you will love them too.

"Running Away" is by far the best tune on the playlist. This song envelopes your heart with its sound and you can not help but feel the contraints of insecurity the group is singing about. Beautiful guitar, piano, and vocals that cry without whining. I absolutely love this tune.

"This is Where it Ends" is another of their beautiful tunes. This song has amazing composure. Produced and mixed in pure beauty. I love how Brad's vocals can call out to your heart and demand you to listen to his pain behind his lyrics. This is such a good band. I love this song!

"Queen Annie" This tune grabs at my heart. This song opens with an acoustic guitar and vocals tinged with beauty. Brad's vocals are so believable as he sings out to his love. This is such a beautiful song with masterful guitar, piano chords blending very well, all shadowing the vocals wonderfully. This is my favorite tune by Midnight Hour. The guitar alone sold me on this one. I love it and you will too.

Midnight Hour is a breath of fresh air when it comes to music. I absolutely love when I come across a band and I can loose myself in their music. Midnight Hour has an album coming out soon, I am told by Brad himself. So keep your eyes out for this release. Make sure you head over to www.myspace.com/midnighthourrock and listen to these guys. They are DEFINITELY worth the 20 minutes. Also make sure you watch their music page for release of their album information. You will not be disappointed in this band.

Sweedish Sounds of Today, Mates of Mine

There is a band, one that can lift your heart out of its lowest of moods with their compassionate, easy on the mind and ears sound. This band is Mates of Mine. This band is formed by Peter(vocals, guitar), Simon(bass), childhood friends since age six, joined with long time friends, Oskar(vocals, guitar) and final member Henrik (drums, percussion). This is another lovely unsigned Independent band providing the world with incredible, honest music. There can never be enough of this in the world and Mates of Mine are doing well to supply their portion of honest music to the appreciative listeners such as myself.

Mates of Mine are making wonderful pop/folk/acoustic music. Their ablilty to blend sounds and harmonize is very comforting to my ears. I just love their song "The Heart in all that Matters." In this song the lyrics and music deliver the message that you have too see through the superficial layers of people, and look at the true essence of who they are, their heart. The guitar cries its way through this song in such a touchingly beautiful way you feel the story in the music, as well as the lyrics, while the is guitar crying out to you. I Love music of this quality. This song is definitely worth listening to, do your self a favor and check it out.

"Live your Life" is another wonderful tune that roped me into this band. I love how the vocals are so honest and open. By providing lyrics that Place a wonderful message into our hearts, Mates of Mine, have written a beautiful song about living. No matter what life has thrown at you, you still have to pick yourself up and LIVE. I love this song. Please go have a listen to this song. It is definitely a smile worthy song.

The last song I will leave you with is "Sitting by the Ocean." This song opens with the sounds of ocean waves crashing into the shore, and echoes of seagulls flying over head. Such a peaceful opening. These sounds of bliss are accompanied with the light strumming of an acoustic guitar. This song speaks of a man reminesing and thinking of a girl he loves. They aren't together for one reason or another, yet she is consumming his thoughts. This song has Outstanding little guitar rips that leave you listening, waiting, wanting to hear more from those strings to call out to your listening pleasure. This really is a wonderful tune. The lrics that Mates of Mine have written in this song paints a very literal picture behind the music. Go check this tune out, you will love it!

Mates of Mine are currently on Myspace Music. If you would like to check out this band and sample their refreshing, honest, lovely sound, please DO! I highly recommend this band for a listen. You can find them at

John Nathaniel is Rock's New Frontier!

Upon receiving a friend request from yet another musician on myspace, I found this was one of those "clicks" that was definitely worth the effort. John Nathaniel is a Canadian Indie Rock/Pop/Acoustic Artist, residing in Montreal, Quebec. Having recently making the choice to "buy himself out" of his major label deal, John Nathaniel is now cruising down the Indie Rock Road. His "about me" section is written on a personal level, giving you the feeling as though he is speaking the words of who he is directly to you. I love bios like this. Although it is professional to pay someone to write your bio, I love it when Indie artist choose to post a more personal account of themselves as well.

John Nathaniel is a Singer/Song writer/ producer/mixer. His music is full of substance. Layered well with instruments ranging from piano, (his self-claimed favorite instrument) electric guitar, acoustic guitar, tambourine, and drums. I found myself pleasantly surprised by the tunes he provides for our listening pleasure. I will discuss the ones that I believe are the best, as there are many tracks on his myspace music page available for a listen.
I'll start with "Shades Of Gray." In this tune John starts off with a rockin' guitar fast paced tempo building into the song. His voice is tight and raw with a flare of rock. I really dig the flow of this song, the guitar gets me every time! Check it out.
Next, "Crash and Burn" this is just a sample of the song, but its enough for me to like, and want the song. Starting with piano, John sings his way through this love ballad with his raw rock voice in a soft way that matches the beauty of the piano. A minute into the song, intro the drums. Giving off a beat that makes this song reminiscent to One Republics "Apologize." This is a great tune. I enjoyed it, you will too!
Lastly, John Nathaniel has a cover of Colbie Callait's "realize" that is very well performed. I am a fan of Colbie and John has done her justice here. There is a youtube video of this cover available for a view on his music page.

So, have I got you intrigued enough to go give John Nathaniel a listen? If so, please visit his music page on myspace. www.myspace.com/johnnathanielmusic
If, like myself, you like what this artist has to offer, John Nathaniel's first CD "Shades of Grey" is available for purchase at CD Baby, and his second EP "Crash and Burn" is available for down load on itunes. John Nathaniel is also currently recording his third Official EP, so keep your eyes and ears open for that release as well.

Have you heard of Airplanes, formerly known as Ele?

Airplanes is a lovely acoustic/pop/indie group I found on myspace a couple of months ago. This group is made up of a Sarah, on vocals and lyrics, and Sean on guitar and lyrics. Then add the help of a drummer named Kyle, and you have Airplanes.

The bio on their music page talks in a way that makes this band seem very relate able and fun. It's simple, sweet, and to the point. Courtesy of their myspace music page bio, read below.
"About airplanes
hey guys we are now airplanes, some of you may know us as "ele" we just changed our name recently. but no worries along with this new name change will come a new ep and a lot of cool other stuff. The band consists of Sarah and Sean. When we record we get help from a wonderful drummer named Kyle! Currently we are going to be recording 4 songs to add to our 3 songs to make a 7 song ep. We love what we do. Music has done a lot for us and we just want to repay it by making the best music we can make. Music is about people and thats the best part about it. Everyone can relate to some song out there and we hope that a few of you can relate to ours. ummm what else. trying to get some tour dates later on after this ep is done. if you have time follow us on twitter or check us out on itunes. Also remember somebody always loves you and to keep your head up, thats really important. i could never be told that enough =] well stay tuned! some cool stuff is coming up! love -airplanes"

This duo/group only has three tracks to give a listen currently on their music page. However, I would like to point out after only being members of the myspace music community since July 29th 2008, (just about year and a half) these guys have managed to rack up over 8 million plays.

The title of their first tune on their myspace page was the all the attraction it took for me to click and listen. A song called "Flip Flops." The name itself is what peeked my courtesy. "Flip Flops" is a tune that speaks of simple love. Young and free in a time that was a breeze in their life. I love the line "nonverbal communication" Who doesn't completely long for a relationship that contains nonverbal communication? This song is definitely a happy tune, I recommend it for a listen. Especially if you just need a pick me up. The line "why am I crying when I should be smiling?" is enough to make you smile. I love this tune. Its cute and catchy and just consists of a tambourine, acoustic guitar, and pretty vocals. Definitely a fun song that's worth the few minutes it takes to click and listen!

The next song I will tell you about is my favorite by this group. Its entitled "Stars and Moons." This is a fun song about friendship. I listened to this song and immediately thought of my best friend in the entire world, and thought, yep! That is exactly how I feel! I really enjoy this song. Backed by Sean's acoustic guitar, and Sarah's pretty voice, with maybe hints of a shaker? This song is definitely a Great feel good song that can make you reminisce of your best Friend and the reasons you love them! Go listen to this song! www.myspace.com/airplanesacoustic

Airplanes is planning on releasing a 7 song EP sometime in the near future. I know I will be ready to go download it as soon as it is available, as I love music and there is NOTHING better than feel good music. I love this group, you will too! Go check them out and become a fan!

Bask in the Refreshing sounds of The wonderful Sandi Thom

Sandi Thom is a free spirited, highly loving old soul born to make music. Sandi's sound is one very unique in nature, and stands out above the commercialized crowd of the music industry today. "Sandi Thom grew up in Macduff, a little fishing village on the north-east coast of Scotland. First learning to play the piano by the age of four, Sandi had begun her musical journey. By fourteen Sandi was playing in covers band called The Residents, travelling to bars, weddings and parties. She later went on to study at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, where she met her tour manager Lizzie Brown, guitarist Marcus Bonfanti, and her percussionist Craig Connet. In the years that followed, Sandi sang in a gospel choir, formed a variety of bands, landed a publishing deal, wrote hundreds of songs, and worked as a session singer – which is how she met her producers Jake Field and Duncan Thompson."
~(sandithom.com/biography)

Sandi's first bout of major success stems from her phenomenal song "I wish I was a Punk Rocker(with flowers in my hair)." This song skyrocketed the charts to number one in the U.K. and went on to be a world wide hit. Backed with simple percussive beats, Sandi's "I wish I was a Punk Rocker(with flowers in my hair)" sends a very direct message of a worlds view that she doesn't fit into. Reverting back to simpler times, this song depicts how the world makes life more difficult than it needs to be. Her vocals on this track are phenomenal. With just a few percussive beats of maracas, tambourine, hand claps, and a simple bass drum to back her up, Sandi's vocals carry this tune, almost a Capella. Very worthy tune to share with your friends.

Sandi's Song "Ungrateful Heart" opens with an acoustic guitar, a violin, and her outstanding vocals. Sandi sings this tune in a way that touches the heart. This song depicts the very outcome of what can happen if you make rash decisions, when you are hurt. This song tells you to look past the "right now," and look into the "what can be" or future so to speak. This is a song that steams with beauty. This tune is amazingly written and performed, with outstanding strings. Definitely worth a listen.

Sandi's "I'm A Human Being" opens up a bit bigger. With percussion mostly backing her vocals, this song picks up rather quickly. This song is on Sandi's latest album "The Pink and the Lilly". This song gives the idea that the world is huge. We can only do so much as individuals, she loves the world we live in. This song gives off the positive vibe to just embrace the world and our race. This is a fun positive uplifting song. Again Sandi Thom graces us with her delightfully wonderful vocals. This tune is worth the listen. Go check it out!

Sandi Thom currently has 2 albums, as well as many singles out for purchase at www.sandithom.com
Her first album "Smile...It Confuses People" originally released June 6, 2006 contains the wonderfully delightful track "I Wish I was A Punk Rocker(with flowers in my hair)"
Sandi's most recent release "Pink & the Lilly" released May 26, 2008 provides you with the wonderful tune "I'm a Human Being" as well as many other incredibly Grand songs.

You may sample the wonderful sounds of this artist, as well as view videos of Sandi performing several of her great hits on her myspace music page. Just visit www.myspace.com/sandithom
Sandi's website also offers a "watch and listen" option if you would like to check there as well. I highly recommend all music fans to check this artist out. Sandi's music is definitely worth the time and clicks!

Music From Greg Holden

I have delightfully fallen upon the music from a Mr. Greg Holden. Greg is another brilliant British singer/song writer. Greg is currently on tour with the Lovely and Talented Ingrid Michaelson. Making his name in the lights with Ingrid Michaelson, Greg is able to showcase his very honest sound to sold out crowds. The music that is coming from his mind is very gracefully written and performed. I heard just one song from this artist, "Thinking of You" and I was instantly a fan. His lyrics in this song are so honest. There is a vulnerability in the depth of his lyrics meaning that is very attracting to listeners. His soft and delicate voice, paired with his softly strummed acoustic guitar, makes for easy listening music that warms your heart. Greg Holden currently has a self released album "A Word in Edgeways" available for purchase at itunes and CDBaby. Greg also has an EP "Sing for the City" currently available on itunes as well.

If you would like to get to know this artist before you purchase his wonderful music, you can sample his sounds and read more about him on his music page at www.myspace.com/gregholden

Songs I recommend by this artist are "The Art Of Falling" and "Faces" which are available currently for a listen on his myspace. I also highly recommend his song "Thinking of You" which you can hear on the Dreamers Radio Music Monday broadcast from 10-5-09. Listen to their broadcast for music by Greg Holden and Rosi Golan as well.

Who is Sam Bradley? Read this to Find out!

ATTENTION ALL MUSIC LOVERS:

I am writing to tell anyone and everyone in Oklahoma, about Sam Bradley. Sam is a British/Canadian Singer/Song writer.
Sam has the ability to light up a stage. His presence alone is very warm and inviting. I know this because I have had the pleasure of meeting him briefly, in Dallas. He took the time to come meet me while we were both attending a show for Marcus Foster and Bobby Long. He came to speak with me just because a friend of mine had flagged him down, mentioned I was a huge fan, and asked him to surprise me with his presence. We had a little conversasion, in which I saw a glimpse at who Sam Bradley is. His heart is as big as his range in genres of music. His voice resonates beauty as he sings. Sam possesses the ability to take any song and make it his own. Two prime examples of this are his "No Diggity" and "Boot Scootin' Boggie" covers. He has an outstanding creative nature one could only dream to acquire. His voice is one that stands alone in the music industry.

I personally love Sam's "Wide Open" the most right now. He does an excellent job of bringing the 60's vibe into today’s music. I Love IT! His "She Moves ME" is so beautiful. Oh to have a man that feels for me the way he sings his way through this song would almost make my life complete. His cover of the Otis Redding song "That’s How Strong My Love is" is truly amazing, his voice is engulfed with such emotion that he favors that song really well. The above three songs mentioned are available for a listen on his myspace page. Go to www.myspace.com/sambradley Have a listen for yourself. His work speaks for itself. I can not find words worthy enough to justifiably describe his music. Do yourself a musical favor and have a listen to Sam Bradley.

Other examples of songs worthy of a listen by Sam Bradley are his "Scared" and "Too Far Gone" Both songs describe love on a level that can't find equilibrium in the world that they exist.

I had the pleasure of seeing Sam perform at Poor David’s Pub in Dallas. He puts on a great show.
My favorite from his set at this show was "Sea Blue" A song he mentioned that he wrote recent to a bad break up. He stated before he started playing it that he "wanted to give himself over to it" and boy did he ever. He has an amazing connection with his music that carries over to the audience. He did a cover of "No Diggity" on acoustic that took me by surprise. I believe it takes a very talented artist to take a hip hop song and make it rock on acoustic guitar! I really would love to see him live again. I want to bring him to Oklahoma! So go have a listen, become a fan and request that he come play Oklahoma on his next touring adventure in the great U.S. of A!

Sam Bradley currently has an EP available for download at his website. Want to smaple his EP before you buy it? Just go visit his myspace music page at www.myspace.com/sambradey to get a taste of what his Amazing EP has to offer. Sam also has other songs available for a listen on his myspace as well, so hear those Brilliant songs while you are there as well. Then, when you become a fan of Sam's music (you will) Just go to www.sambradley.com to download your very own copy of Sam's first official EP.

Fight The Current are my new Found Musical Firends

Today's blog is about Fight The Current. This is an indie rock band with a sound that is reminiscent to The Goo Goo Dolls. Fight the Current's rock sound is well balanced and easy to listen to. With great guitar abilities, and drum beats that back the rhythm well, their sound never drowns out the vocals which is a very good thing. Their guitars blend well, one never to over power the other. I love that there are several instances in each of their songs Fight the Current provides several solos on the acoustic guitar. I think that's what keeps the sound from becoming too harsh. It is very easy to drown vocals out if you are not careful in your rock sound, Fight the Current does an Amazing job on maintaining their balance through out every song on their myspace.

"So Far From You" is the first song on their play list. This is one of my favorites by this band. The lyrics are phrased just right along the melodies that are carried mostly by the acoustic guitar. The vocals are full of emotion expressing their sorrow without being too whiny. I love the way the drums, acoustic guitar, vocals, and I think what may be a violin, tie together perfectly. I really like this song. The song is about a man that is involved with a woman who is emotionally distant from their relationship. He wants to love her but realizes they are not on the same level when it comes to their love. Definitely worth a listen.

"Breaking out" Starts off with the acoustic guitar carrying the melodic line. Then nonchalantly enters the vocals and drums. All tying together very well. Nothing is too heavy. All sounds are very well balanced. Again, the vocals are sweet and rich with the emotion the lyrics are holding. This song is about getting over a heartache that has held you back in life, moving past it and actually choosing to live your life. Great Song!

"I Know" This tune opens with guitar, drums, and vocals. Again, all tying together well, balancing the sound enough to not be over powering. The lyrics describes a girl that doesn't need materialistic things to keep her happy. The love that she and her man share is enough for her to remain happy. This is what keeps their relationship grounded and the singer loves that about his girl his lyrics are portraying. Another wonderful song.

If you have not heard of Fight The Current, I am hoping this blog will help you with getting to know their sound. Their music is what I like to call "feel good" music. Definitely worth adding to your "driving" play list as I feel this is Great driving music. Go check out Fight The Current and decide for yourself! Marcus Foster's "TumbleDown" I just had to share my thoughts on this!

I have mentioned before, now I must say it again. Marcus Foster has an impossibly brilliant talent of playing the guitar that is very empowering to one's well being, and equivalent to the air we breath. We just have to have it. Marcus Foster's voice holds the potential to make you want to cry, while a smile remains on your face. His emotion saturated soulful voice is so beautiful in "Tumbledown" that the first time I listened to it, a few tears fell from my eyes. All while still smiling. I think this happened mostly in part because Marcus' voice is beyond beautiful. That kind of beauty in an artist just doesn't present itself enough in this world of music in which I find myself basking in. And partly because the lyrics are speaking to my heart. This song makes me think of my boys. How they view the world and people now, at their young ages of just 6 and 8. They see the beauty in Everyone. They do not see faults. They are open and loving and I love that about them. They are unaware of the worlds malicious tendencies. This song reminds me of how much I want to keep their views this way, and at the same time it makes me realize that there will come a time where their "flawless and unscathed" world views may change. If they were to really open their precious little eyes and look at the world, and all its malicious tendencies as well as the world's beauties, their world would shatter around them by the sheer shock of it all. This may then cause their hearts to shrink a bit. These thoughts scare me. Marcus Foster has managed to portray this message behind glorious lyrics spoken straight from the old soul that resides within himself. "Tumbledown" is a prime example of what music truly is supposed to be. The best song EVER written hands down. (heads up my fav band of all time, The Beatles, Marcus is giving you a run for your money!) If you have not heard Marcus Foster's "Tumbledown" go straight to www.myspace.com/marcusfoster and listen! Do not wait to do this "another time" as he could take it down at any time, and you must MUST listen to his LIVE version of the song that is currently up on his myspace. Then go ahead and have a listen to the rest of Marcus Foster's timeless works of art, that of which we call Music. His soulful voice is raw with emotion and his guitar strumming adds to the affective raw nature that caresses your soul as you listen to "Tumbledown", "Fourteen Times", "Same Old Dance" as well. If you need a soul cleansing, caressing session, go listen to Marcus Foster and get lost in his sound. You will not want to find your way out. Go to www.myspace.com/marcusfoster , Listen, and enjoy. : )

Read my take on Darling Waste

I had come across Darling Waste a few months ago when I received a friends request from this band on myspace. As I do love music, I clicked the link, and gave their sound a listen. I was instantly hooked as their music is very catching. This band exhibits a true rock sound. Musically speaking this music takes you up and down on a ride that you will not want to get off of. Darling Waste has music with the ability to hook a listener, and you can't help but to stay tuned.

Darling Waste is an indie rock band. This band with a sound that is a mixture of all things rock.
With "The Insignificants" we get a nice soft sound starting with gentle vocals accompanied with a careful acoustic guitar. Then add some percussive accounts and the song starts to pick up a bit. Enter the drums, guitar, and bass then you have a full rock sounding ballad. I really like this song. A love song that transcends distance in a relationship, whatever may be the cause of the separation. With clips of subtlety in and out of this wonderful tune, you can really feel the emotions weaving in and out of every chord. The vocals speak volumes when it comes to singing the emotions in which the lyrical lines represent. Really a masterful song!

"No Truer Life" This song has a unique start. I love music that pushes limits. This song starts out with the sound of bells of a wind catcher. Then starts in with an acoustic guitar that layers perfectly with them. Enter the vocals and we have the perfect start to another beautiful ballad. The bulk of this song is backed by the acoustic guitar, until mid song. Then a full band sound opens to expand the climax of the song. The lyrics in this song are elegantly stating that you have to live life, or let it pass you by. There are moments of wonderful harmonizing that really en captures your ears. The end of this song is like coming full circle. It ends with the same bells of the wind catcher and gentle acoustic guitar it started with. I really enjoy this song.

The last song by Darling Waste I will tell you about is "Changing of The Seasons" This song opens with a soft piano backed with a beautiful violin, and soft vocals layering the sound of this song amazingly. Then enters the full band sound. The violin shines throughout the song, never being over powered by the guitar or the drums. The lyrics of this song paint a picture of the weathering of a relationship. The sounds of this song are mixed very well and makes for a very great rock ballad. I really enjoyed this tune!

If you have not heard of Darling Waste, go check them out at www.myspace.com/iheartdarlingwaste If you like their music, they do have an album for purchase " I am Born" available at their merch store. Just click the link on their myspace page to buy! Go listen to Darling Waste and Enjoy!

Another Singer Songwriter has found me Andrew Sloman : )

I am writing here today to tell my peeps about a Mr. Andrew Sloman. Another amazing singer/songwriter from the U.k. I have sampled his music on his myspace and let me be the first Oklahoman to tell ya he is magnificent!

His song "Wear Her Down" is soothing with an amazing melodic line where his gently clad voice is engulfed with the beautiful sounds of an amazing violin and acoustic guitar. Again a writer with poetic lyrics. I am a sucker for acoustic guitar, violin, and poetic words strung together to make a beautiful piece of musical art. The artistry behind Andrew Sloman is refreshing. A prime example of good music in my opinion.

"Tides" is another song on his myspace that I really enjoy. His voice blends with his beautiful guitar strumming in a way that caresses your mind. Definitely a track you can unwind to. I love the lyrical line "Joy rolling down on me" I live for music of this nature. Thank you Andrew!

"Parisian Streets" hits home with me. In this song I believe Andrew is singing of loving a person that he has to hide from life. The very being of this relation causes disappointment from strangers. I love his beautifully written lyrics. He wants love, but he is going about it in a shameful way. I really feel this song. His acoustic skills shadows his voice brilliantly in this tune.

"Silence" is another beautiful tune by Andrew that pairs a violin, his acoustic guitar, and his incredibly gentle voice.

"Elena" is another Great song. Opening with a bit of a Latin feel, Andrew's acoustic skills shine again. The way Andrew layers the chords of his guitar with the tapping of the trap set ties this song together really well. His soft, sweet voice weaves in and out of the chord progressions in a very tender, yet penetrating way, giving this song a unique sound. His lyrics speak of an addiction to loving a woman that is not good for him. Hurting by being with her and by being without her. Terrific song. Go listen!

Last song I will mention is "No No More." Andrew opens this song with a gorgeous run of chords on his acoustic guitar. His guitar is then paired with the beautiful strings of what I believe are a Cello and a violin. Absolutely beautiful harmonies in this tune. He again in this song, delights us with his soft sensuous voice, behind lyrics that run deep with both intense feeling and meaning. This song speaks of a relationship that has lost meaning. He has lost the ability to love, due to the lack of emotion and ability to care for one another. His lyrical line "I won't be wondering why No No More" is almost like a slap in the face, that is if the other party discovers they are still "in love" with him. Really a brilliantly written song, and beautiful to listen to. Go Listen!

Andrew Sloman has a sound of an angelic nature. If ever you need to just loose yourself in music for a bit to escape from the harsh realities of life, I suggest Andrew Sloman be on the play list, as I believe music is freedom for your soul. His music has an amazing quality that allows you to relax and breath in time with it. If you have not heard of Andrew Sloman, do yourself a favor and head over to his music page on myspace and have a listen! just click here!
www.myspace.com/andrewsloman

Refreshing music, go listen and enjoy! When you become a fan, mark your calendars for October 29th, 2009. Andrew's "Tides" EP releases! His EP will be available for download and purchase on itunes, CDBaby, and his myspace. His music is worth the, (what at most $10) cost! Don't miss out on the wonderful music coming from The Andrew Sloman! : )

Get To Know Bobby Long

First off I would just like to say I am in no way affliated with Bobby Long or his camp. This is just my personal reflections of his music I wish to share with the public. The above pictures are my own that I took with my Fujifilm Finepix J20 while attending Bobby's Poor David's Pub show in Dallas Tx.

Bobby Long is a British singer/song writer that, through his music has won my heart. He has a folk voice with a rock edge sound. His music, so far, is of the unplugged account. He can take words and give them wings through his voice and his Guitar. This man's Guitar playing ability be stills my heart. He has a way with the harmonica that can drown you in comfort.
With Bobby, the best way to sum this up is, music must run through his veins. It is apart of him. With thought and dedication, this man writes lyrics that in my opinion seem like they are coming from an old soul that is deeply rooted within his heart. Which I believe, is why his work is so beautiful. His music will prove to be timeless. He has many of the greats that are his inspiration, which speaks volumes of his taste in music.
Think Modern Day Bob Dylan, and you can start to imagine Bobby Long. If you have not heard any of his work yet, do yourself a favor and head over to his myspace and have a listen. www.myspace.com/musicbobbylong
It will be worth it!

Bobby possesses a unique ability to write lyrics that can penetrate a soul. He writes in such a mysterious way that leaves all thoughts behind his lyrics open to individual interpretation. Examples of this are some of my top favorites. Such as "Left To Lie" (which is available on itunes) In this song he writes about life and all its mundane afflictions.
Another great example is his song "Passing Tale" This is my personal favorite, In this song, I feel Bobby's lyrics represent admitting to loss, be it death of life, or death of a relationship. His guitar in this song is intrusive in a way that penatrates your soul so much so you cant help but feel every chord. Bobby's voice shines in this tune by way of his emotions as he effortlessly delivers his lyrical lines. "Passing Tale" is only available on his "Dirty Pond Songs" which is only available for purchase at his shows.
And the last great example I will leave you with is Bobby's "Dead and Done." In this song, Bobby provides us with his beautiful acoustic guitar backed by his soothing harmonica. I believe Bobby is singing of his version of heaven in this tune. I do have to say Bobby paints a vivid picture with his lyrics as he makes his way throughout the song. His Harmonica layered with his acoustic guitar and his unfailing voice in this tune, drowns you with such comfort that you will not want it to end. This song is another favorite of mine. "Dead and Done" is definitely a timeless tune created by this timeless artist in the making.
I had the privilege of seeing Bobby Long Live two nights in a row in Dallas. I was completely impressed with his stage presence, demeanor, delivery, guitar, harmonica, and his outstanding hair. He is very entertaining. He is currently touring the U.S. I would love to bring him to Oklahoma as well. I do not have the ability to do this alone. We need a fan base big enough to bring him here. That’s why I am sharing this info. Go listen to Bobby Long, become a fan (you will) then ask that he play Oklahoma. His Show is one of the best live shows I have been to. It is so intimate, which makes for a great opportunity to connect with his fans.
Bobby has 3 singles available on itunes. Head over to itunes and Download them all! Catch a show while he is on tour and you could buy a copy of his "Dirty Pond Songs" which has 10 VERY GREAT songs on it. I bought one, and love EVERY SONG on there, which very rarely happens. So go check out Bobby Long! You will not be disappointed!

My Review of Sam Bradley's first Official EP

First off, I'd like to say that this is my own personal review of Sam Bradley's EP. I am in no way affiliated with Sam Bradley or his camp. I am just a fan, and All words here are of my own personal account I wish to share with the public.

Sam Bradley has written and performed many incredible works of musical art. The recent release of his first EP provides just 6 examples of this. I am open to all genres of music, Sam Bradley is a very talented artist who does a terrific job at providing a wide variety of music for his fans to appreciate.

The first song on his EP is one that Sam is well known for, "Sea Blue." In this number Sam exhibits beautiful guitar strumming on acoustic that shadows his incredibly gifted, soft, angelic voice perfectly. His vocals are sensational. Supplied with a beautiful vibrato in just the right phrases, he delights us with a wonderful melodic tune here. His lyrics are felt with intense emotion as he sings throughout the song. "Sea Blue" will leave you feeling vulnerable to all things pertaining to love, and craving more of Sam. This is also the song that Sam has chosen for his first official music video. You can see this video for yourself on his youtube channel. Just visit www.youtube.com/samueltube1

Next up is Sam's "Eugene/You-Gan/." In this track Sam provides us with a full band sound. Set with a darker tone, his voice keeps you entranced. "Eugene/You-Gan/" portrays a deep message. Once again Sam has written lyrics that leave you reading between the lines. I interpret this song as fighting a loosing battle. A no-win situation if you will. An ordeal that has you running in circles, as there is no immediate end in sight. Just a few lyrical lines from the song started to put this idea in my head. By listening to "If you've come to confront me, Greedy 'cus I've no more fight. If you've come to save me, Release me, but don't take up tonight." I love the way Sam writes so mysteriously. Purchase your own copy of Sam Bradley's EP at www.sambradley.com and get your own personal take on this absolutely genius song!

Sam's 3rd song on the EP is "Derek." Another popular song amongst Sam fans. I have heard the acoustic version of this tune, and I have to say I prefer the version recorded with the band on this EP better. Right off the bat this song says classic rock. Opening with drums that makes you start tapping your feet with the beat. Then enter the kick-ass guitar ripping through the opening and you are on your feet and dancing! Sam's voice here is sultry and simmers with a rock edge. "Derek" is a raw, hard without being too heavy, classic rock song. I love it, you will too!

Next up is "Pretty Boy." A Rock ballad that is hard hitting with amazing guitar and poetic lyrics. Sam's voice is soft and seductive in this magnificent number. "Pretty Boy" will leave you breathless and wanting more! This song is another prime example of classic rock and Sam has done an outstanding job creating. Thank you Sam!

Next tune, "Passport." This is a fun song. Recorded set to an acoustic guitar and piano, giving this one a bit of a jazzy feel. The opening line is " I lost my passport in a strip club..." This song is about lacking confidence, coping with that fact, and getting past it. I really enjoy this tune. So open. You will love it too!

Lastly, Sam's cleverly written "It Begins." This song opens with a booming bass line and Sam's amazing voice. I feel Sam is singing of a person he loves, but he's got to take off with his career. Can it last while he's on the road, and out in the open? Buy the EP, listen, and get your own interpretation of this outstanding work of art!

Have I convinced you to at least check out Sam Bradley yet? It just takes a few minutes of your time to head over and sample the sounds of Mr. Sam Bradley, then just another 5 or so minutes to purchase, download, and enjoy his EP. I heavily recommend too all lovers of music to purchase Sam Bradley's EP. You can sample his sounds by visiting his myspace music page at www.myspace.com/sambradley
Then, when you have become a fan, (you will) you can download and purchase a copy of his EP and ENJOY!!!!!

My Review of Marcus Foster's Sound and First Official EP

First off, I would like to start out by saying that I am in no way affiliated with Marcus Foster or his camp. This is my personal opinion/ review of Marcus Foster's music that I wish to share with the public. I am just a fan that loves his music and would love to build a fan base in Oklahoma big enough that will convince him to play a show here in Oklahoma City where I currently reside. The above picture is one that I took Myself, with my Fujifilm Finepix J20 at his Poor David's Pub performance in Dallas, Tx.
If you have a true appreciation of music, and love all sounds, Marcus Foster is your man! This British native has managed to blow me away with both his unplugged sound, and eccentric styles in music. He has a voice that, in my opinion, could Rule the music Industry. From my wide range in taste and personal experience in hearing his music, I can tell you, Marcus Foster's work has the ability to reach audiences of many tastes. I believe, Marcus's passionately written lyrics, soulful voice, and extraordinary guitar plucking ability can and will prove to be timeless and carry on through the years, much like The Beatles, Van Morrison, and Jackson Browne. He has a classically elegant poetic way of writing so that his lyrics can reach people on a very intimate level. His voice behind those lyrics mimics the very emotion his words evoke as he sings them beautifully. Marcus Foster has been blessed with an impossibly great talent. His guitar playing skills have the ability to make you fall into a deep passionate desire for the sound of the acoustic instrument. Marcus can "pick and pluck" his way up, down, and sideways on his acoustic guitar, leaving you to feel mesmerized and entranced by his beautiful notes from his guitar strings. His front guitar tapping adds for a bass effect that connects the beat of his work to his soul this music is pouring out from. If you haven't heard of Marcus Foster yet, I am telling you. Currently, Marcus has an EP available on itunes. Head over to his myspace, http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3Li4ubXlzcGFjZS5jb20vbWFyY3VzZm9zdGVyfoster (after you are done reading this of course) Have a listen. WHEN you become a fan, go straight to itunes and buy his EP.
"Make It Easy" is one of my favorite Marcus Foster songs, which isn't on his EP, but it is on his myspace. This song is absolutely worth the time to go and listen to it!
His EP includes 6 musically refreshing tracks. The timeless pieces of musical art on Marcus Foster's EP are:
First up is "I Don't Mind" With a great bass line underlying his acoustic guitar strings, mixed with a bit of tambourine, this song depicts the very bond all relationships should have. One that is accepting of failures and/or successes in life's achievements/losses, he sings of loving in a way that en captures all of it.
Next we have "Fourteen Times." This acoustic number is soft and melodic. Marcus's vocals on this track are saturated with a longing for an ending in which his lyrics are searching in the meaning behind this song's emotions. Although I am not clear on the significance of the number fourteen, (I would love to get the chance to ask him personally just what the significance is) as a listener you will find your own meaning behind it. The lyrics leave a bit of a mystery for the listener to muster their own interpretation of it. Beautiful song.
"Kiss is a knife" is the next song on the EP. This song has a collection of Marcus's eclectic sounds. Upbeat in tempo, this song weaves an electric blanket that jolts your system as you listen. One of a kind song, that has a tendency to be negative in nature, still you are dancing and singing along as it is a very catchy tune.
This brings us to "You My Love." Another acoustic number with just hints of violin, harmonica, and what I believe may be a recorder. This tune provides a beautiful relaxing melodic line that comforts my soul. This is another song that is written rich in poetic lyrics that leaves you wanting to be the very object of affection in which he is singing. The opening lines are "The sun falls down like the memory of a sore, turn everything from gold into grey. There's a light that still finds your face, carrying old dust and shadows a name." My favorite line however is from the chorus, "It's you my love, So kind are your eyes I see them in the darkest skies, if it's true my love I've got to steal away, I love you til my dying day." Definitely my favorite song on Marcus's EP.
"Same Old Dance" is next on the list. In this song Marcus saturates every syllable with an intensity, that you can't help but feel every emotion his lyrics are representing. I interpret this as a song about a lady of the streets that takes up men just so she can pretend she isn't alone in the world. He writes the lyrics so carefully it's almost like he is singing of someone he knows personally. Such a sadness resides in this tune, your heart bleeds for the girl he is singing for.
Last on the EP is the tune "Waywayway." An eccentric tune with a rich jazz trumpet/bugle, bouncing bass, hand clapping, marrocas, and of course Marcus and his acoustic guitar. (and possibly a tuba?) This is a tune that has a fun jazzy tempo to move to. I love the bass line as it nonchalantly ascends and descends in chords. Marcus extends his voice to a wide variety of range towards the end of the song that brings a smile to my face. I really enjoy this tune!
OK, so Next time you are just surfing the web, or have some down time, take a few minutes and go Listen to Marcus Foster on myspace. Do it now, (after you are done reading my blog/review of course) just click here!www.myspace.com/marcusfoster You will not be disappointed!Marcus Foster just recently wrapped a tour in the U.S. and will be back in December.
